SOUTH CARROLL HIGH SCHOOL INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC

On April 29, 2019, the South Carroll High School Wind Ensemble participated in the Maryland Band Directors Association State Band Festival at Morgan State University, where they earned an 'Excellent' rating. The Wind Ensemble qualified to participate in this Statewide Festival by earning a 'Superior' rating at the County Festival in March. Students participate in the instrumental music program for many reasons and all have different levels of commitment and musical ability. I

The SCHS Instrumental Boosters are offering two (2) $500.00 scholarships for qualified senior instrumental music students who participated for a minimum of two years during their High School years and will be attending college immediately after High School. Application packets are available at Cavmusic.com or from Mr. Stevenson. The deadline for receipt of applications is 7PM on Friday, May 3rd. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

On May 2, 2019 at 7PM some of our best musicians will be performing a recital of diverse music in the SCH auditorium. After the approximately one-hour recital, enjoy a brief reception in the fine arts lobby to meet the musicians. All instrumental music students and parents are encouraged to attend. The annual South Carroll Region Area Band Concert will take place on Wednesday April 17, 2019 at 7PM in the South Carroll High School Gymnasium. The purpose of this festival is to promote instrumental music in our schools and to encourage our current instrumentalists to continue to participate in band throughout their public-school years.
