The 2017-2018 Cavalier Marching Band in on track to be the largest in years! It's very exciting to work with students who share so much enthusiasm.
That said, I've received some last-minute questions and would like to extend the application deadline until April 21st in order to make sure that I'm able to answer the questions to everyone's satisfaction. I think that we have an excellent program and would like to have as many students as possible join us.
The South Carroll Cavalier Marching Band will be celebrating 50 years of music at South Carroll with a show of music by the Beatles. The show will feature music from “Magical Mystery Tour” and “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.” Both of these iconic albums were released in 1967 – the same year that South Carroll High School opened.
I’d like to invite you and your family to join us on this adventure. By joining Marching Band, you will join a family of friends who share a common interest. You will learn discipline, leadership, and excellence – all while having lots of fun!
The Cavalier Marching Band is open to all students currently in Grades 8 – 11 who will be attending South Carroll High School next fall. Even if you don’t play a wind or percussion instrument, you are encouraged participate in color guard or drumline.
The Marching Band will perform at all home football games – typically five or six throughout the fall season. Games are usually held on Friday evenings unless they are rescheduled due to inclement weather. We will also perform in several community parades and local marching band competitions. The schedule will be announced as soon as the dates are available from the community organizers.
Band Camp is our time to prepare our show so that every member will know their music and their positions on the field. There will be fun, group activities every evening of Band Camp.
Mini Camp will be take place at South Carroll HS on:
June 20 from 6PM – 6:30PM for all marching band students and parents (informational meeting –in SCH Auditorium)
June 20 from 6:30PM – 8:30PM for all students (following meeting – Band room)
June 21, 22 from 6PM – 8:30PM for all students (Band room, chorus room, and auxiliary gym)
Full Camp will take place at Mt. Airy MS on:
July 28 from 9AM – 3PM for percussion, drum major & color guard
July 31 – August 4 from 8AM – 4PM for everyone
We will also rehearse on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6PM – 8PM and home football game days from 3 – 4:30PM. This schedule will last until the final home football game.
