Area Orchestra Festival - March 7

The annual South Carroll Region Side-by-Side Orchestra Festival will take place on Wednesday March 7, 2018 at 7PM in the South Carroll High School Gymnasium.

The purpose of this festival is to promote instrumental music in our schools and to encourage our current instrumentalists to continue to participate in band throughout their public-school years. This is a very special and exciting opportunity for over 150 string students from the South Carroll Region to perform together in a massed orchestra.

Here are the important details and a schedule for the day of the festival:

Who: All string students at SC High School, Mt. Airy Middle School, Mt. Airy Elementary School and Winfield Elementary School.

When: Wednesday, March 7, 2018

Rehearsal and Performance Schedule:

5:45 High School and Middle School students arrive and tune

6:00 High School and Middle School students rehearse

6:10 5th Grade students arrive and tune

6:20 5th Grade students join the rehearsal

6:30 Beginning students arrive and tune

6:40 Beginning students join the rehearsal

7:00 Performance Begins (approximate length 45 minutes)

Where: South Carroll High School

Cost: Admission is free.

Clothing: Students are to wear the concert clothing that is generally expected for a performance at their own schools (uniforms for middle school students, concert dress for high school students, dressy clothes for elementary students).

What to Bring: Instrument, Festival Music, Wire Music Stand

Every student is crucial to our success! If your child is unable to attend the festival, please let Mr. Stevenson know in writing as soon as possible. If transportation is a problem, please let Mr. Stevenson know so he can attempt to facilitate alternate arrangements.
