Concert Attire

Again this year, all SCH instrumental students will be required to wear uniform concert attire. This eliminates the focus on individual student fashion and instead shifts the focus to the music being presented by the students.

Every effort has been made to make this requirement affordable. CCPS will assist families with financial difficulties to purchase this concert attire. This policy ensures that all students have equal access to high-quality, appropriate, concert attire.

The concert attire will be as follows:

  • Men:

  • Pants, Vest, Shirt, Tie – $73.00 (including shipping & tax) one-time purchase from SCH

  • Pants – $28.00

  • Vest – $25.50

  • Shirt – $16.00

  • Tie – $3.50

  • Black dress shoes, Black dress socks – Provided by student

  • Women (option 1):

  • Dress – $73.00 (including shipping & tax) one-time purchase from SCH

  • Skin-tone hose, Closed-toe 1-inch black kitten heels – Provided by students. (Women who play drumset may wear closed-toe black ballet flats. Please make sure that you tell the person fitting you that you will be wearing flats, as it will affect the dress length.)

  • Women (option 2):

  • Pants, Vest, Shirt, Tie – $73.00 (including shipping & tax) one-time purchase from SCH

  • Pants – $28.00

  • Vest – $25.50

  • Shirt – $16.00

  • Tie – $3.50

  • Black dress shoes, Black dress socks – Provided by student

The balance due may be paid up-front by October 13th or in two installments, with 50% due by October 13th and 50% due by November 10th. Make all checks out to “South Carroll High School.” Students who receive free meals are eligible for free concert attire. Students who receive reduced-price meals are eligible to purchase their concert attire at a 25% discount. Chorus students who already own a Melisma dress do not need to purchase a new dress for instrumental music. Chorus students who already own a full tuxedo will only need to purchase a vest for instrumental music.

We are pleased to partner with local company M. Stein this year for most of our concert attire. Fittings will be done by M. Stein and trained parent volunteers on September 18th, during Mod 1. Make-up fittings will be done on September 19th during CAV time. Students who do not have class on either of these days will be requested for FLEX. Each fitting should only take about 60 seconds to complete.

The new concert attire should arrive sometime in mid-October. Students must have all concert attire (including those items provided by the student) no later than October 20, 2016, as our first concert is on October 24, 2016.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact me at your earliest convenience.
