SCH Instrument Pick-Up

March 28, 2020

SCH Instrumental Music Students and Parents/Guardians:

I miss everyone and hope you’re doing well.  I hope to connect with you on a more personal level again in the coming weeks.  This is one of several updates I’ll be sending in the next few days.

If you (or your student) didn’t take his/her instrument(s) home prior to the school closure, please CAREFULLY read the directions below and then schedule a time to pick-up the instrument(s) and music.  Students with oversized instruments (cello, double bass, tuba) or school owned instruments should pick-up their instrument(s) and music as well.  Percussionists only need snare sticks and practice pads.
Instrument Pick-up Procedure (in compliance with Governor Hogan and CCPS):

  • Instruments and folders will be available for pick-up on Monday March 30, 2020 at five minute intervals between the hours of 3 pm and 5 pm outside of the main school entrance. Use this link to sign up for a time:  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0D4CAAA92FA5FB6-schinstrument

  • In the Sign-up Genius link, be as descriptive as possible so that I can easily find your instrument (and folder) in the band room.  (i.e. storage area inside the exterior door to the left; small cubby near the top left; pink flute case with flower stickers all over it)

  • I cannot be available to hand instruments to you.  That said, instruments and folders will be outside the main lobby for you to pick-up and monitored by security cameras.

  • No one may enter the building.

  • Only one person may leave the car to pick-up the instrument(s) and/or music.

  • Absolutely no congregating or social time.

  • No instruments can be picked-up by a friend or the parent of a friend.

  • Any instruments left after 5 pm will be brought back into the building.

  • Remember to wipe down any cases when you get home, and then thoroughly wipe down cases and clean out mouthpieces before bringing back to school after the closure.

  • If you’re not able to pick-up your instrument on Monday between 3 and 5 pm, please let me know what day/time might work better and I’ll try to help however I can.

I understand that some elements of this procedure may seem drastic, but our first priority is your health and safety and the health and safety of school personnel.

As always, please know that I’m still here for you.  If I can help you in any way (from a distance) don’t hesitate to let me know.  I have some free time…

Say well.  Stay safe.  Keep in touch.

All Best,

- Mr. Steve
