October 27 Concert
Dear Cavalier Musicians and Families:
Our first public performance will be on October 27, 2021 at 7pm in the South Carroll High School auditorium.
In preparation for that, and future, performances, students will need appropriate concert attire. Please order attire no later than September 15th and have all items ready to wear no later than October 15th. This information can also be found at https://www.cavmusic.com/performance-attire
Performances are formal occasions. In order to eliminate the focus on individual student fashion and shift the focus to the music being presented by the students, all instrumental music students must wear uniform concert attire. This policy will ensure that all students have equal access to high-quality, appropriate, concert attire. Every effort has been made to choose concert attire that is affordable, wearable for events other than concerts, comfortable, and flattering on a variety of body types.
Option 1: (Approximate cost with alterations - $75)
Pants, Vest, Shirt, Tie (to be purchased by parents/guardians no later than September 15th). Link to purchase.
Choose either flat or pleated trousers
Choose black vest
Note that the trousers will need to be hemmed
Black dress socks and black dress shoes (to be provided by students)
Option 2: (Approximate cost with alterations - $75)
Blouse and Palazzo Pants (to be purchased by parents/guardians no later than September 15th)
Link to purchase Palazzo Pants (Note that the palazzo pants will need to be hemmed)
Dressy closed-toe shoes (to be provided by students)
The SCH Music Department has changed concert attire several times over the past few years. Students who have a previous style of concert attire may continue to wear that attire for concerts.
Students should have all concert attire in hand and altered to fit no later than October 15th in order to be prepared for the first concert of the season.
This dress code will be enforced for all public band/orchestra/jazz ensemble performances. Students who are not appropriately dressed will not be allowed to perform. Questions regarding the dress code should be handled well in advance of the performance.
If this dress code presents a hardship, please contact me at your earliest convenience. We gladly accept donations of outgrown or no-longer-needed concert attire.
