The South Carroll High School Department of Visual and Performing Arts will present a concert of instrumental music on February 27 at 6:30 pm in the South Carroll High School auditorium. The concert will feature the South Carroll High School Honors Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, and Honors Orchestra in a varied program of music with the theme of ‘Suites and Symphonies’.
The Orchestra and Honors Orchestra will perform selections from several symphonies. The program will trace the development of the art form across space and time. Works will range from the late Baroque/early Classical “Symphony No. 4” by William Boyce to the late Romantic “Symphony No. 2” by Gustav Mahler.
The Honors Wind Ensemble will lighten the mood with a few suites – that is, compositions that contain several related movements or sections. Works will include several selections from Tielman Susato ‘s 1551 “Danserye” and “Nathan Hale Trilogy” by contemporary composer Jeffrey Curnow.
Please join us on February 27th for this concert. Admission is free. Performers should arrive no later than 6 pm in concert black attire.
