Maryland Music Educators Association (MMEA) is pleased to present the 2023-2024 Maryland All State Auditions.
Students interested in auditioning for an All State ensemble must send an email to Mr. Stevenson no later than 11:59pm on Friday, September 22 asking him to nominate them.
Auditioning for All State is the culmination of a preparation process that can span a student’s entire school career. Through their participation in music performing ensembles and intentional development of their technical and expressive tools, students develop critical thinking, self-reflection, and problem-solving skills which will serve them in their future life pursuits, whether or not those pursuits are musical.
The All State audition materials as well as all of the policies and procedures are now available at this link: https://www.mdmea.org/all-state-auditions. In-person auditions for Junior/Senior Band, Junior/Senior Chorus, and Junior/Senior Orchestra will be held at various locations across the state. MMEA is pleased to offer a live-virtual audition option for these auditions again this year. Auditions for Senior Jazz Band, Senior Commercial Band, and Senior Harp will be recorded/asynchronous auditions.
Before beginning to prepare for the auditions, please review the All State Audition Handbook for the student eligibility rules, audition dates, fees, timelines, and information for the Maryland All State Ensembles. Educators, caregivers, and students each have a key role. It is very important that all three work together through this audition process. It is this collaboration that helps the students have a successful audition process, from start to finish.
