On Monday, February 24 during Mod 2, acclaimed composer Soon Hee Newbold will visit South Carroll High School to engage with orchestra musicians and discuss her experiences in performing and composing as a professional musician. This visit presents a unique opportunity for our student musicians to connect with the talented composer of many pieces they have performed.
Due to Soon Hee's travel schedule, we can’t accommodate her during our regular Orchestra meeting time but teachers have graciously agreed to excuse students from their classes on Monday, February 24 during Mod 2. Nonetheless, students should touch base with their Mod 2 teacher before February 24 to get any work that they will miss.
With over 75 compositions for orchestra and numerous music scores for films and television programs, Ms. Newbold has established herself as a significant figure in the music industry. Her works have been showcased at prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Wolf Trap, Lincoln Center, and Disney Hall.
This exciting visit is made possible through the collaboration of the Maryland Centers for Creative Classrooms and Arts Education in Maryland Schools, with support from the Maryland State Department of Education.
