Thanks to the collective advocacy of our school community, South Carroll High School will implement a master schedule for 2026-2027 that allows every instrumental music student to participate in band and orchestra all year long within the AB schedule. This will be the first time in many years that every instrumental music class will be offered on an AB basis all year long. Additionally, SCH will be adding a dedicated freshman orchestra (Orchestra I) class and a Music Theory class.
This is a meaningful step forward for our program and, most importantly, for your child. Consistent, year-long participation allows students to grow musically, remain connected to their ensemble, and fully experience the benefits of being part of a performing arts community.
Your voice played an important role in making this happen. Whether you reached out, asked questions, or supported these efforts behind the scenes, your advocacy made a difference.
If you are willing, please take a moment to share your appreciation with our school administration. A brief note thanking them for supporting student access to music education and for prioritizing a schedule that makes this possible goes a long way in reinforcing the value of this scheduling decision. You can contact them at:

Lisa Katz, SCHS Visual and Performing Arts Department Chair (LRKatz@carrollk12.org)
Together, we are building something special for our students. Thanks again for your continued support.
